Overview
To redesign an older iteration of an app design. The goal of this app is to have a space for pottery artist and ceramicist to track and document their progress with their pottery pieces. Being that pottery is a multi-step process, there is documentation that is required and these notes can easily get lost in the making process.
The Challenges
Potters rely on memory, scattered notes, and photo galleries to track their work. This makes it difficult to understand what techniques, clay bodies, or glaze combinations led to successful results.
The pottery process spans days or weeks and involves multiple stages (forming, drying, bisque, glazing, firing), yet there is no intuitive way to document each step in a way that is both detailed and easy to revisit.
The challenge was to design a logging tool that balances structure and creativity, but also have elements that feel customizable to potters and both beginners and with experience.
Objectives & Goals
Create a centralized, intuitive system for logging the full pottery process from forming to finished piece.
Reduce the need to rely on memory and scattered notes by making documentation easy and consistent.
Encourage consistent documentation with understandable navigation.
Design a logging experience that feels quick, intuitive, and rewarding, so users are more likely to log pieces regularly.

Conclusion & Next Steps
The leap of progress made from its original creation is evident. The plan is to continue with future iterations by adding animation and seamless user flow.
Future iterations will include more prototyping and user testing, then refining again based on those results. Improving UI and pushing accessibility and hierarchy as much as possible.
